Present:  Suzz Cromwell, George DeLuca, Larry Field, Marshall Field, Mike Frye, Capt. Thomas Kennedy, Ted Lavash, Bill Lipchitz, Chris Samaras, Steve Syverson, and George Villaras.

 

The meeting opened at 8:35 AM.

 

Captain Kennedy noted there was a power issue in Kearney Square that has caused a traffic delay.

George DeLuca said he would like to have his organization, Come to Lowell, be a stakeholder. It will be brought up at the annual meeting.

 

Bill distributed draft copies of the work plan for the upcoming year which will be presented to the membership at the annual meeting.  Goal 1 will be to help new residents integrate into downtown focused on the UMass Lowell and MCC students. George Villaras volunteered to work on the subcommittee set up for this goal. There was some discussion about the wording for Goal 2 that will center onassisting the City in its efforts to initiate long-term planning and which will include the phrase “making the downtown a destination for all Lowell and regional residents”. George DeLuca volunteered to help with this goal. Goal 3 is to assist the City in improving the general appearance and cleanliness of downtown. Jamie O’Hearn will help with that goal. Goal 4 is to gather online information about Lowell in one place.

 

Steve Syverson reported that LTC will be moving into the space once known as the Melting Pot on Market Street and will relocate their main entrance. The ALL gallery will have to move and is looking for space .

 

The Annual Meeting of the stakeholders will be held on March 30th at the Inn and Conference Center.  UML Chancellor Meehan will be the guest of honor and award recipient.
