Lowell has new economic director

LOWELL -- City Manager Bernard Lynch announced the hiring of the city's new economic development director.

Theresa Park, who has been living downtown for more than two years in an Ayer Lofts condominium, will take over for Brian Connors, who left in November to take a job in Springfield's economic-development office.

Park has worked in Newton's planning and development department for more than five years, and has nearly 15 years of experience.

Division of Planning of Development director J. Matthew Coggins said the city received 20 resumes for the position and Park's "went right to the top."

"We're very excited about her coming on board," Coggins said.

Park will be on the job starting Feb. 12.
